Cindy Pionke

Cindy Pionke retired from the public sector July 1, 2021. She was the Strategic Facilities Engineer/ADA 504 Coordinator for Knox County’s Department of Human Resources where she was responsible for implementing Knox County’s ADA Transition Plan. Prior to her accepting this position, she had been the Director of Planning and Development for Knox County’s Department of Engineering and Public Works for over 20 years. Cindy received her BSCE from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and her Master of Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a registered professional engineer in both Tennessee and Georgia.

Cindy is an active member of ITE and has been blessed to be the recipient of many awards for her activities at both the District and Section levels. At the District she has received the Marble J. Hensley Outstanding Individual Activity Award for 2011, the John F. Exnicios Government Employee Outstanding Service Award for 2012 and the Herman J. Hoose Distinguished Service Award for 2016. She is a 2017 graduate of LeadershipITE. She served as the Local Arrangements Committee co-chair for the 2007 Southern District Annual Meeting in Knoxville, TN. She was the Chair for the Members Services Committee (previously known as the Strategic Planning Committee) for the past 6 years. Cindy is a past President (2002, 2021) and Section Representative (2007 and 2008) of the Tennessee Section of ITE.
